My name is Miquel Hudin (or Hudin Balsa depending on the reference.) I am the author of this blog and a Croatian living most of the time in the United States, working as a web developer.
Subsaharska is the Croatian word for 'Sub-Saharan' as in 'Subsaharska Afrika'. This is about as far as I can go with my ability to merge my Croatian lineage with my interest in Africa (well, with the exception of these "balkrica" articles.) Thankfully, my profession as a web developer picks up where that leaves off so that I can try to open dialogs about various technology in Africa whether it be web, mobile, or the digital dissemination and preservation of African languages.
In full disclosure, I'm often writing from afar as I'm based in San Francisco and Barcelona depending on the time of the year. I am on the African continent several a lot (such as Congo DRC, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, or South Africa) getting the direct word from people about what's happening there. It's important to note that this is always, always different from what you hear on CNN or the BBC.
The Big Picture
The full image from which the header for this blog was created is seen at the left. This was a photo taken by Elia when going to see the Bonobo monkey sanctuary outside Kinshasa in Congo.
For those who want to see my personal blog and photo galleries of travels, check out my other site, Hudin, although be warned that I often have no reserve in complaining about a great many things over there.
